TEXAS HOLD 'EM NO LIMIT STRATEGY

The following tips are for Texas Hold 'Em No Limit.  Please remember that, as the strategy used for Texas Hold 'Em Limit is very different.   The cards a player is dealt is of course the most important starting point in that players strategy.  However, coming in a close second, in Texas Hold 'Em No Limit, is the opponent.  Pay close attention to tip number eight.

1.     Don't open with a weak starting hand.  The following opening hands are the only hands to start with in Texas  Hold 'Em No Limit:

                    *Pairs-7, 8, 9,10, J, Q, K, or A  -    *AQ  -   *AK     Any other starting hand should be folded.

          2.  When dealt an exceptional hand, raise big.

          3.  When holding AA or KK pre-flop, always raise.

4.     When holding an ace and a small card of another suite pre- flop, always fold.

          5.  When playing late in pre-flop betting order, play loose.

          6.  Fold on a bad flop.

          7.  Always fold when in doubt.

          8.  Players of Texas Hold 'Em should always observe their  opponents, learning their playing habits, and using the other players habits to their own advantage.

*Never bluff against a constant caller.  *Get loose and pre-flop against the player who always  stays in for the flop.  *Most of the time, he will bet flop, then fold.

                     *If he re-raises, fold.

STRATEGY OF 7 CARD STUD HI/LO

In 7 card stud hi/lo the game evolves not around the hi, butaround the low.  There are hundreds of strategy tips for 7 card stud hi/lo. Some are good tips, others not.  The strategy tips listed here, are from professional 7 card stud hi/lo players.

*Always remember, straights and flushes, not pairs are what win 7 card stud hi/lo.

          *Raise with an ace showing.

*When opening with a high pair and another player has low cards showing, fold if that player gets an ace on fourth or fifth street.

*If only one player is showing three low cards on the table, that player should raise.

*If a players low card is three and fourth street gives him a high card, that player should fold.

*A player needs to raise when fifth street makes his low.

*If a players hand will not beat a straight, he shouldn't make a river bet.

These tips work for the professional 7 card stud hi/lo players, lets hope they work for the novice player as well.

STARTING HAND STRATEGY OF OMAHA HI/LO

A tight playing style seems to be the winning strategy for Omaha Hi Lo. A strong starting hand is vitally important in Omaha Hi Lo.  The players main objective is to have a starting hand strong enough to  take the entire pot (both hi and lo).  Less than strong  starting hands no matter how tempting should be folded.  Several professional poker players maintain an extremely tight strategy for Omaha Hi Lo  which is to fold unless there is an ace in the starting hand

.If a players opening hand is A3xx, 6789, or 5679 that player needs to fold.  Just glancing, any of the three look very tempting don't they?  However, A3xx is usually a 2nd nut low hand so stay away from it.  Practically unplayable are the 6789 and 5679 hands.  About the best a player can expect from either of these hands is a low or medium straight that does the player no good.   A starting hand with three of a kind (excluding aces) also needs to be folded. Here are some examples of good starting hands (even though a few don't contain an ace).   2345; A36K; KQ23; A345;  and A234.  A player starting from any one of these starting hands has an excellent chance of winning at  Omaha Hi Lo

  TEN OMAHA POKER STRATEGY TIPS

           1.  For the  starting hand, hope for connected cards.  Full houses, flushes, and straights--these are what win most in Omaha poker.  So, accordingly, a player  wants connected cards for the starting  hand.

          2.  Have a large enough bankroll to survive the downswings of the game.

          3.  If a novice at  Omaha poker, start at the lowest limits.

          4.  Learn and win at each level.  Don't jump to higher stakes to quickly.

          5.  Scrutinize and analyze the flop.  Even though a player may use only two of them, each player has four hole cards to work with.

          6.  A player needs to try to visualize all hands that could possibly be better than his.

          7.  Don't bluff in Omaha.  Most likely a bluff will be called.

          8.  Don't bet on luck in Omaha.  Because of so many cards to  work with, it is easy for a player to gamble on getting lucky.

          9.  Don't expect to win at showdown with a top pair or even top set.

       10.  Lastly, don't forget, Omaha is not Texas Hold 'em.

DO NOT use Texas Hold 'em strategy to play Omaha.
